Thanks. I did not realize the higher fare classes option. By the way, I read the T&C again, and noticed that the $599 base fare is for round trip instead of one way, making it more likely to squeeze more value.i6s1 wrote: ↑ That would depend on the price of the ticket... FWIW, it's the same $599 whether it's Australia, India, or Japan, so there are ways to get more value out of it. Also depends on where you live. Vancouver to Asia is generally cheaper than Toronto to Asia, and vice versa to Europe.
Another factor is that you get the same fare class on the companion ticket. You'll get more value on the higher fare classes. Let's say a Standard ticket is $600, there's no savings to use the pass and pay $599. But let's say a Flex ticket (with free seat selection, and other perks) is $800, and Comfort (with free preferred seating) is $1000. Now, instead of paying an extra $400 (2x$200) to upgrade 2 tickets to flex, or $800 (2x$400) to upgrade 2 tickets to Comfort, you're paying $200 and $400. So you'll be able to scrape some more value that way.
I am not evil; I just live another way
