Is there a way to avoid that cost? newegg ebay store?

Fwiw zotac GTX 1650 super has been this cheap on Mike's computer shop recently. It's only 4gb and is marginally slower, but it's also far newer and consumes much less power, runs cooler, and has nvenc. Just something to consider at this price point. This is also coming from an amd fan boy fyi.

Might be a bit irrelevant, but if you don't mind going used, I've seen a couple of gtx 1070 for 250 to 300 online.

Performance is definitely better on the 1070 imo especially since the price is so close
