It says certified. That usually means refurb.

That's what Asus Certified is for future reference.

Picked this up as well on the last sale. It's basically brand new. Absolutely love it and works great as an AiMesh unit.

It's more expensive, but Staples has the Asus Dual-Band Wireless AC3100 MU-MIMO Router for $199.99 in their flyer. Any advice on this router? I'm thinking of getting it, but not sure if there is a better option for the cost.

I'm looking to pickup a second AiMesh compatible router to cover my backyard. We have the AC-86u already and el be using ethernet backhaul to connect the second router in our detached garage. Should I be getting that second AC-86u from the BF sale or will this refurb be perfectly suitable for my needs? I want reliability but also don't want to spend the extra money for the 86u if it's not necessary.

Found some reviews on Best Buy and Newegg. I think I'm going to stick with the AC2900.

I keep getting errors trying to put Merlin firmware onto mine but I also picked up the refurb one that was on sale through Newegg's ebay store. The router works fine and the unit sent basically looked new.
