[Newegg] GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 Motherboard $211+tx

I am in the process of building a rig and I have been eyeing this motherboard.

This is the cheapest I've seen (remember to use 10% off coupon) as per https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/bzN ... 70xgaming7 Also there is a $20 Gigabyte rebate via Newegg so we are looking at potentially a $191+tx price point. You can also use cashback affiliates to save a bit more.

One of the more affordable Thunderbolt 3 boards from a reliable manufacturer with great reviews.

Shipping adds $10 unless you pick it up or you are subscribed to Newegg Premier (there is a free 30 day trial for new accounts).

If anyone can chime in regarding this board, it would be appreciated!

Build a mini itx then.

You can't game on a laptop, unless you are SUPER rich just forget about it. The GPUs will get outdated quickly, battery life is horrid, its essentially a portable desktop. At that point, you are going to end up using a kB+Mouse+monitor at home anyway, might as well build a more powerful tower you can upgrade in the future easily

if you dont game or do heavy video editing just go laptop.

The sound issue on the gigabyte one is case by case and most report that disabling creative software does the trick.

I think feature to feature, this is the best motherboard out there in terms of bang for your buck (among the z170 ones).

Was thinking about this one but not sure if it's that much better to be worth $200 more :

MSI MSI Gaming Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION

Colour alone is worth $200 lol
Put that in white/black case with window, so sexy!!!

It also comes with free downloadable content for World of Warships (only good for new users to the game as far as I can tell). 1.5% cashback through GCR or 2% through RFD. (there's a chance GCR might not accept due to coupon code)
Cancelled my original mobo purchase and ordered this one since I'm willing to gamble on audio issues. Thanks OP!

I've had this mobo for about 3 months now, I did have issues with the creative core but since the latest bios (F7) there have been no more issues. If you hear a slight buzz from the headphone jack its due to your headphones being too sensitive a simple resistor adapter works great. Here is a link to it http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ETYMOTIC-ER4P-TO ... 329605627?
What I use is the boom mic from Vmoda off amazon and due to it having the inline volume rocker the hiss is gone as well
I guess its a design choice since most people buying this board will have high impedance headphones

Did you get the hero or hero alpha? Can't seem to tell the difference except the price tag

Can somebody help me to decide should I buy this board or the Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard at $195?

That is a good board however the Gaming 7 has Thunderbolt 3 , HDMI 2.0, can take up to 3866 mhz ram vs 3400, has 1 more m.2 slot, dual LAN (although teaming is disabled for now), dual bios and a LED i/o shield which also spans the board.

If these interest you, the Gigabyte one is a no brainer. Asus does have a better bios and likely better fan support.

yeah, money is alot more atm up here though :(

one nice part of the alpha (i dont care about wifi, although its nice to have) is the RBG led headers you can connect led strips without a controller and sync with your mobo logo lighting.
