[Newegg] G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 64GB DDR4 SODIMM (2x32) $179.99 FS

Updated pricing (Dec 26th): $179.99 with Free shipping

For those looking for 2x32 DDR4 SODIMM this is currently on for a few dollars more than the last ATL back in May (~$158 + $20 shipping). While I expect DDR4 SODIMM prices to drop further once it's adopted for notebooks it's not a bad price if you need it now.

Any idea if this kit is compatible with Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 4?
And how it compares to the Crucial sticks (2 of CT32G4SFD832A / a kit of CT2K32G4SFD832A)?

CL 22 is very good, particularly on SODIMM

this is very good RAM as i own 2 set, bought in May cost was $169 per kit before tax (kit was $157 but had to pay shipping), OP thxed

CL22/CL20 is JEDEC standard which majority of laptop support. better timing is XMP based but don't support JEDEC so you won't be able to run at 3200 MHz in majority of laptops or tiny PCs.

Out of curiosity, why does a laptop need 64GB of ram? lol. Most desktops don't even need that.

Answered here: https://www.quora.com/What-would-you-ne ... of-RAM-for

SODIMM is also used in NUCs / miniPCs / prebuilt SFFs some of which may be used for the tasks answered in the post above. Some people also use laptops for the above tasks.

TLDR: people who don’t just game or browse or use office applications only may have use cases that benefit from 64gb ram.
