[Newegg] Intel Core i5-10400f - 179$

It seems like some deals are starting to pop up on intel CPUs to make way for their 11th gen.

This is the lowest it's been. 10$ cheaper than the previous deal at shoprbc.com.

179$+5$ shipping.

There is also the i3-10100F for 108$ at PC-canada.

You're doing it wrong, you're only allowed to post AMD CPU deals on here.

Don't you need a 200$+ board to make it even with amd because of ram speed? *noob*

Moving from 3200 CL16 to 2666 on the i5-10400f you lose 2% productivity, 4% 1080p gaming, 0.5% 4k gaming. It seems like even at 2666mhz the 10400f is still equal or ahead in gaming compared to the r5 3600.

But you are correct, to get full ram speed you need a Z motherboard which starts at around 160$.

Hi everyone,

first time PC builder here. I am trying to custom one, but have no clue what to get. I will use the computer mostly for youtubing, web browsing, pornhubing..etc
What is your best recommendation from any current newegg deals? budgeting for $400.

CPU: Intel Core i5-10400f [189$]
Motherboard: ?
16GB RAM:?
Hardisk: Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008 2TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive [$69]
case: DIYPC DIY-A1-BK Black Tempered Glass USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with 1 x 120mm Fan x Rear Pre-installed [$39]

I may miss some components in order to build a functional computer.

Thanks!!!

Who would've thought one day Intel would have to deep discount their CPU against their competitors just to move units.

feelsbadman perfectly describes everyone working at Intel right now.

It's about time Intel cut prices to compete. They've been able to get away with keeping prices high because most casual gamers still associate performance with Intel.

This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card.

This is the best I can do for around 400$. The i3-10100F is really the go to cpu for value at 107$. I have one in my pc at home and its been great. I also removed the 2tb hard drive. You NEED an ssd in 2021.

Now, there is no graphics card. You will need to add one. Does not need to be good/expensive. Anything will work so look for a very cheap one on kijiji/ebay/old computer laying around. Alternatively, you could just upgrade to the i3-10100. It's 40$ more expensive but no graphics card required. (the case you mentioned would also be fine)

Nice price for a current gen 6C/12T CPU.

Wonder what the desktop Rocket Lake lineup prices will be like when they release.

You will not be able to buy at MSRP anyway, for a long while....

I have the Acer tc895 with an i5-10400 and it's pretty good. I have an rtx2070 paired with it and can play games at pretty high settings on 1440p and still get high frames

Agreed, you definitely need an SSD if you are going to use Windows 10, since it's such a piece of crap.

Or you can use Windows 7, great OS.

Isn’t that why it’s recommended to use a ssd for your OS install and regular 2TB drive to install and play your games from.

Which is the best budget micro atx motherboard that supports ddr4-3200, quality onboard sound, no video required.

Is it worth the expense to going ddr4-3200 compatible?

I plan on purchasing a rtx 2060 or 3060 type card, whichever is more affordable and available, I might not even buy this cpu if I can’t find a gpu.

Pcpartpicker wasn’t smart enough to tell me that I picked underpowered ram for my motherboard/cpu, is there a better site that would tell you?
