[Newegg] Newegg SS: Corsair Carbide 88R mATX Case - $34.99 AFTER $10 MIR

Great price for a nice build case. It is mATX though so its good for those smaller builders. This is the cheapest I seen after MIR on newegg so far.

Looking at the pictures of the inside of the case, the area right below the external 5.25" bay appears like an area you can buy a cage for additional 3.5" bays. Is this true, and if so, how many more 3.5" bays can it support?

But the SPEC-M2 version of the case does have a drive cage accessory, which might fit:

Thanks. Would you know how many 3.5" drives it can accommodate? There is no picture and the description doesn't say.

Pick is available from Richmond Hill Warehouse, near Hwy 7 and 404.

*edit - shipping does horrible things to this though... Still on the fence grrrrr.

$15 shipping. So $60 + tax. Your net cost after rebate, shipping and taxes isn't $35. It's more like $60. Huge difference.

What's a better case...this 88R or a Thermaltake Core V1?

I was replying to soupmaster666 as he said the following:

Unfortunately, clicking on the link doesn't provide much info about the cage. I was able to find another case with the number of bays I needed so thanks.

v1 is an ITX case, this 88R is mATX.
I don't know how people do it, but if it's an ITX board, I will only do ITX case. If it's an mATX board, I will only do mATX case. I will not do bigger case for a small board. It looks ridiculous.

But if you are starting a build, I'd suggest to go with ITX. I haven't used anything more than 2 sticks of ram, and 1 video card. There is no point of getting a big computer.

After some investigation my current cooler is a hair too tall for this case. Cooler height allowance is only 150mm, keep that in mind. That plus the shipping and I think I'll pass. Thanks anyways OP
