Use promo code TECH

The listed price is $259.99. Promo code gives $30 off. Promo code can be applied to up to 5 units in the same order. Beware that the code is one time use only. Order as many units as you need in one order. I believe the code can be used for some other items too. They won't allow you use the code second time for another order.

EDIT: Code TECH conditions: ""TECH $30.00 off w/ up to 5 items per order Expires 6/30/2021 23:59 PST" If it stops working try again later. It should not expire until July.

Interesting. Getting downvotes "not a good price"? Was there a better price? I looked at the history in expired deals and I saw the lowest was $229 in December 2020. The latest deal in March was $240. This is the Pro version, the one worth buying over the non-Pro. If you think it's not a good price, please comment.

Those that are downvoting obviously think this is the same as a $40 unit you get from AliExpress lol. This is a phenomenal piece of kit. I have the 2016 version and I adore it. Use it every day for streaming content

I think the downvotes are saying there will be a refresh model this year or next year.
They released models in 2015, 2017, 2019.

Good price and good deal, debating grabbing one to upgrade from my 2016 but I hear there is a new version due this year. But who knows with the chip shortage if it is happening.

Agreed. I also own 4 pros. 2x 2019 and 2x 2017. Best streaming device on the market and unprecedented support.

+1. Especially now that you can add the AppleTV app to it.

I can't comment on why some have downvoted, but the retailer gives me pause. I haven't purchased from Newegg in a while because they just aren't that good.
Also keep in mind unsubstantiated rumours of the new Shield coming soon. E3 is in 8 days and there's the usual rumour of a new Nintendo Switch with updated hardware. If that happens then this hardware might be a clearance model soon.

Admittedly, all speculation of course.
c'mon get happy!

Just picked up my 3rd one. Very happy with the 2 2017 models I own.

$30 off is the most you normally see on this. As for future discount... that is always the rule

For a noob, what’s the advantage of having this vs. Built in smart tv features

This nVidia Pro is the way to go. It replaced all my other brands TV Boxes from the past, and I finally could stop buying more.
Maybe some PPL were confused this with non-Pro version which usually cheaper. I paid $230-$15 coupon at staples.ca last winter.

Pros: (besides being nVIdia!)
  1. TV App and network streaming friendly
  2. Graphic quality 4K HDRs
  3. All audio codec output (for AV receiver)
  4. USB storage play (USB port can be set to off on standby)
  5. Nice remote (some might hate style lol)
  6. Bluetooth supports headphones

If you have a top of the line smart tv like one of the Samsung Smart TV, then you probably wouldn't find much benefit from the shield.

This device is the perfect compliment for a good TV.

I use both. My Sharp plays all my files including Blu Ray and 4K rips as well as my MKV library as does my old Samsung. But the Shield has all my Android apps, so it is a COMPLIMENT to the TVs.

Own the Q80T with a Q90R sound bar system. The Shield is the only way to stream Disney+ and Prime Video in Atmos not to mention the fact Real Debrid brings you 4K movies in 7.1 and this box (I own the 2015 Non Pro) can keep up with no issues.

Great deal. After some more reading, my wallet is safe for now but if someone is on the fence and doesn’t already own a Shield, worth it at this price. Upvoted.

Is today a day that ends in 'y' already? Seems like it was just yesterday.

If your TV gets you all the apps you need and it works OK, then I'd say you don't need it.

This media box gives you great features and format support, and most importantly for me, it disengages the 'smart' component from the TV and puts everything in a well-supported system which has proven to be resilient. I still hear good things from owners of 2015 Shields.

My 2015 shield is still going strong. Nvidia really came out with a gem in the shield.

Is the shield due for a new model this year or next? This one I think was from 2019 albeit still good.
