I'm so sorry about that; I realized and updated it a few seconds after posting. First posted deal ain't going great so far Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

I too saw $120 and thought it was a price error. When I clicked the thread it showed $220 and I thought I was seeing things until I read Bleachways post. So in the time i read the post to when I clicked the thread op had edited and updated. I should have known, I was on newegg a few minutes ago and saw this deal at $240 on the front page. Still leaning towards the SN750 for #140 tho.

No, the SN750 is pcie 3.0, although they have the SN850 which is pcie 4.0. Between this and the sn750, this has 2x the read speeds (7000MBps vs 3500) and 5000MBps write speeds vs 3000 in the sn750. With that said, it's quite a bit more expensive and that speed difference may not be worth it or even noticeable for some use cases. If it's just going to be used for OS and games with regular daily use, then you likely won't notice much of a difference between the sn750 and the 980 pro. The difference with PCIe 4.0 speeds will usually be more noticeable with workstation tasks like media editing/rendering or other tasks where you're transferring a lot of data (even then, if you're transferring data between this drive and another drive, you'll be limited by the other drive's speeds).

It should work once Sony enables the M.2 support

PCIe 4.0 (Gen4) drives ensure compatibility with PS5's stated 5.5 GB/s data transfer spec.

from https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/02/ ... by-summer/

While Sony says it will be benchmarking drives that it can certify as PS5-compatible, other standard PCIe 4.0 drives will likely work with the PS5 after the coming firmware update. It seems unlikely that Sony will allow cheaper, slower PCIe 3.0 drives to work with the PS5, though.

"No PCIe 3.0 drive can hit the required spec," Cerny said when discussing storage expansion options last March.

You need a 11th gen intel cpu and motherboard that supports pci x 4 to get the benefits of this drive

You do? Why won't an AMD board that supports PCIe v4 work just as well?

@ATOMANTMAN There is no need for namecalling as that was a legit question.

@50centdollars Just to clarify, to get the most out of the Samsung Pro, you need PCIe 4.0 to get the max speed. https://www.samsung.com/ca/memory-stora ... 8p1t0b-am/

Systems that only support PCIe 3.0 won't benefit from the performance benefits of Samsung as their interface will be the bottleneck. Currently, 11th Gen Intel processors with upgraded motherboards support this. I am unsure if AMD supports PCIe 4.0 to get the top speed out of the SSD.

Thank you. Have they sorted out the heat issues, as I recall people had to get heat sinks on these drives for better temperature management? I believe Samsung seems to have this better controlled.
