I bought it when it was $699.99 in Amazon. Great NAS but, no 10 gigabit port.

Are you referring to the DS920+ 4Bay Nas? This post is about the DS1520+ 5Bay Nas

Yeah these days people are calling a deal cold just because they were able to get ten 1Tb ssd for $10 each in a price error when the moon was full, covid cases for that day was a prime number and a factory direct post didn’t get downvoted

i mean, i'm also down for that, too. better for us as consumers to get the best deal possible.

i'm not going to buy something when i know that historically, it has been much cheaper.
only price errors are true deals - such is the philosophy of RFD.

Well yeah but I think price errors don’t count. The chances of that happening again is extremely slim and waiting for that SSD, etc to drop to $10 in another price error - going to be waiting a long time

folks snapped it up because it was a 'deal' at $699
the flack on here just goes to show that the data being stored is not worth $900, heck it's probably not even worth $700 but it was a 'deal'

I still do not get why NAS boxes are so expansive and why the price scales up with extra bays. The electronic Hardware should be the price part and it should be somewhat the same from 2-bay to 8-bay.

The time between when the "deal" at $699 was posted on RfD and when it was reported as sold out lasted all of 64 minutes. While it's great for those who lucked out then, it's not realistic to downvote this deal simply because of what was described as a price error over a year ago.
