I admit am not in the "Apple" loop but if I pay 500-1000$ for a tablet I'd at least expect it to be new.
I was floored at some of these refurb prices.

Based on their phone number on Newegg they operate as Duckfish or Quickwireless on walmart.com. Why so many operating names?

Yelp reviews shed some light on this outfit:
https://www.yelp.ca/biz/duckfish-electr ... os-angeles

https://duckfishelectronics.com

https://duckfish-electronics.pissedcons ... ml#reviews

Quickwireless as per BBB. Attached screenshot. They appear to not be a current reseller on Walmart.com anymore.

Based on these my recommendation would be at a minimum to not order at this time and wait to see how others orders went.
Nice detective work, had a lot of red flags for me as well so was a hard pass. Will be interesting to see how the orders turn out..

"refurbished"

Another term for "used", just like "preowned".

Nothing but marketing bullshit.

Good call. I've had an Air 1 for years now, and it chugs pretty frequently.

Not sure where people are seeing "Victoria" anywhere - I'm in Vancouver, got a tracking number but it shows:
Shipped from 928 N San Fernando Blvd J-213
Shipping Time:2/10/2019 9:30:10 AM
That address is in Burbank, California - not Victoria. Also, they've just created a shipping label and it was yesterday on a Sunday, I'm guessing the delivery date will be updated with a more accurate time when the shipment gets picked up.

To anyone who's worried about this being a scam:

Pay with PayPal, and with a credit card that's known to have good customer service (I chose American Express), and when you receive the package, take a video of yourself opening it from completely sealed - if it does end up being a scam, you have video proof of you opening it from sealed to show both PayPal and/or your credit card company.

Nice detective work.
The issue with waiting is that many will likely sell out by then.
But as you are showing you are taking a risk so that should be considered before deciding to buy
In Japan, the hand can be used like a knife.
But this method doesn't work with a tomato...

Apple refurbished is basically almost new.

For a normal person using these they hold value extremely well.

Idk about these though lol

No, I owned one for years that , after upgrading to a newer model, I still used to read EPUBs, PDFs and CBRs in the can - it was more than fast enough for basic tasks like this, but after one of the later IOS/firmware updates it immediately died doing anything. Loading books were a chore, playing even old games I used to enjoy on it were impossible, and even surfing the web was like a slideshow. Immediately post-update, it was like Apple had aged my iPad 100 years.

If it was always dead slow like that, I would have returned the thing ASAP the first time I tried it.
Official Response from Dollarama Management:

Dollarama has a no exchange/no refund policy, and as a result, all sales are final. This information can be found on the screen of each check-out/point-of-sale in our stores as well as on each receipt.

Just because it "worked" doesn't mean it didn't suck from the start. The damn thing launched in November 2012 with basically identical components to the iPad 2 which launched in Spring 2011, and by that time Apple had already released the iPad 3 in Spring 2012 (which had the A5X chip and double the RAM), the iPhone 5 (which had the A6 chip, a faster CPU and also double the RAM), AND was released alongside the iPad 4, which had the A6X chip, a faster CPU, and double the RAM. It's not even like it was significantly cheaper than the iPad 4 either especially considering the older inferior hardware, the smaller size, and a significantly worse display (that was even outclassed by cheaper non-Apple options like the Nexus 7).

Realistically it (and the iPad 2) never should have gone past iOS 7, maybe 8 if you want to push it, but because Apple was contractually obligated to support the iPad 2 for so long this near-identical piece of hardware was as well, which killed the devices in the end with iOS 9.

It was a dumb situation, and the first Mini was a stupid device.
