Nothing to do with this particular SSD, but WD has been pretty sketchy and suspect with their WD RED drives. I'd be loathe to buy their products these days.

Waiting for 1TB prices to drop - both internal and external.

I paid $77 before tax and rakuten for this ssd last year.
Used lots of brands, Samsung, Intel, Corsair, Silicon Power, etc and this is mid tier at best in terms of performance.
I really miss the speed of the Samsung Evo line and will swap back eventually.

I second this. I bought 2 of these to get cloudready running better on some old laptops for my kids, instead of pulling the trigger on getting them each the $200 laptop in the other thread from Microsoft.com. It was a cost effective alternative, as they are both pretty happy campers.

My only gripe is that I paid less than $40 for this drive from CanadaComputers back in early January (for other projects), but alas, my time machine is broken, and they were in stock, so I just accepted the price and moved on :-)

lol HDD/SSD threads are ruthless- the deals must absolutely be ground breaking or threads go into oblivion. I just learned the practical way although it's good because it opened my eyes.

Not a great price, 3C shows it going to $79.99 more often than not over the last year.

Amazon has the same price but free shipping. $8 shipping on top of a mediocre price is kind of a joke.

Keep in mind that one thing this has over other cheap SSDs is the 5 year warranty. I think this is a good price if you're looking for a 2.5" SATA SSD.

Edit: well from Amazon & CC at least.
