How does this drive compares to Easystore 14TB? Is it the same drive inside?
I just got the 12TB Easystore. Wish I waited and get this 14TB. :(

$30 higher than the last time I bought these. Still going strong, will hold out for another similar deal.

This is good to know. No I haven't but I will report back as soon as I receive my order.

In for one. I ordered the WD Easystore from Best Buy last week for 320$. I tested it before shucking and it seems the internal drive is only 2TB. I even tried the WD Utility and it only sees 2TB. It’ll be going back to bestbuy!

Shucked 4 of those a year ago and loaded them into QNAP tr-004 in RAID5 mode. A bit noisy (mostly bassy thumbs) but can't complain otherwise. ~40Tb of reliable storage for private cloud for around ~1700-1800cad. Thinking to go in for spares :)

Google MBR and GPT partition, this may solve your 2TB problem

This has happened to me before. Someone bought the drive, shucked it and re-shrink wrapped it and returned it.

Check crystaldiskinfo and see how many run hours are on it, probably heavily used.

I think this type of return fraud is being done on a large scale.

Highly possible! The box was perfect shape, and the seals were still on the box, but it’s definitely easy to get those stickers. And if your careful you can open the drive without damaging the tabs.

Especially with Amazon etc too.

People are complaining that the brand new latest mother board purchases are being shipped with old mother boards inside.

Some bad apples are going to ruin it for the rest of the consumers as retailers make their policies more customer unfriendly…humans…sigh

Am I the only one who cringes at the word "shucked" for removing a drive from an external hard drive mount?

I don't see it as a big deal with these drives since it is very easy to open without damaging the case. Much cheaper to get drives this way at times than buying bare drives.

It isn't the process I take issue with, it's the choice of word itself. Why not just "remove".
