[Newegg] XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 512GB 3D NAND PCIe NVMe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 SSD $79.99 plus FREE SHIP

Arguably the best deal so far for a 512gb NVMe SSD.

Any reason NOT to get this one? How'd it compare to the sx8200 or whatever?

Unless you live in Alberta this is cheaper on Amazon since there is no tax.

It should also be noted that because this is a lower capacity variant of the drive, it's performance is poorer than the 1TB version.

EDIT: I'm going to add that this price is pretty standard for these drives so with BF around the corner, I'd wait.

The heat spreader is attached via adhesive, for those installing it in a laptop, if they don't want to deal with removing it and voiding the warranty, that's a pretty good reason not to buy this over the SX8200 Pro.

Actually, that's a really good point. Even in my desktop the slot for this on the mb is directly under the GPU so I was wondering how bulky the spreader actually made it.

I don't own this exact model but it shouldn't be hard to find measurements for it if you check adata's site. I think it'll be fine though, clearance is usually a much bigger deal in laptops where they often design the slots with little to no extra room (some are too tight to even accept a double sided drive).

Removing rhe heatspreader is not going to void the warranty, one can always just stick it back on very easily. Pricewise as mentioned by another above it is cheaper on Amazon by about $5. Will it be alot cheaper BF, no one knowz, it may and it may also be a limited quantity, many vendors may have better prices leading up to the hyped day. I for one buy stuff when i need it and if the price works all the better. You can always wait on tech, it becomes cheaper, its the nature of the beast, but you also dont get to use the item, so if you actually need it just buy it, thats my motto and enjoy using it

The heatsink is very thin metal. I had no issues installing in 2 of my 17 inch laptops. I cant see where it's any thicker than a Intel 660 1tb drive with no heat spreader.
