[NEWSGROUPDIRECT] UNLIMITED USENET 5.50USD/mo - Today Only: Ends Tues Aug 16 End of Day

Deal Link:
Price:
5.50
Expiry:
August 16, 2016
NewsGroupDirect is having a 1-day sale (Ends end of day Aug 16) for unlimited Usenet (2915 days retention) for 5.50 USD per month.

Yes, yes, yes. It's a HighWinds reseller which some don't like because of aggressive DMCA compliance. Pair with a Euro/Dutch block service or something. I've never tried NewsGroupDirect, having been on Astraweb unlimited + Blocknews block for years but I may give them a shot.

$5/mo is about the cheapest it gets for Highwinds servers, and that's typically only on Black Friday, so this is a pretty good deal.

My speed is maxed out. Got my sub years ago for $7/month and very satisfied with it. Lots of people reporting stuff being taken down but the stuff I have been searching for past 1100 days is still all there. But maybe I'm after stuff that others are not. I dunno...

Takedowns are within 12-24 hours for certain TV networks/movie studios. Highwinds complies rather quickly with DMCA orders.

That's why you need a fill server.

http://eweka.nl/

awesome service with free vpn.
I believe Eweka also uses the Highwinds backbone, so YMMV. I don't know if it's different rules for European usenet providers using Highwinds but I think they still have auto DMCA takedowns.

I moved over to block accounts not too long ago, was probably costing me about $3 or $4 per month. I might bite at this price for unlimited.

Thanks OP.

I'm on the $5 unlimited deal with these guys, been with them 2 or 3 years, no complaints. Speed maxes out my connection (15,000 KB/s), so I get pretty much any HD TV show in 1-2 minutes.

Just jumped on the deal to give it a try. Speeds also max out my internet (20MB/s) download which is 2x faster than I get on Usenet Farm.

Yes, it basically offers the same as torrents do, movies, music, books, etc. Only at higher download speeds and less chance of being caught.

Is this a VPN?

EDIT: Nvm it seems the answer is above my question.

EDIT2: Can someone ELI5 how this works? Is there a lot of content?

I've always wanted to give Usenet a shot, got a seedbox already so it's not necessary. This seems like a good way to give it a taste. Thanks!
