Niagara Falls Canadian side - where to eat

I have been to Niagara so many times in my life but I am taking my wife and mother in law there next weekend and need a decent place to eat. Not looking to break the budget, just something fun/interesting. Does not have to be near the falls, can be driving distance, I know how much of a ripoff the restaurants are near the falls.

Thanks

You can always eat at the many restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake along Queen St / Picton St, taking scenic Niagara Parkway to or from Niagara Falls. Yes, it's still a ripoff but IMO more interesting than the restaurants at the Falls.

Also, the Japanese restos in Niagara are very good.

Funny, I was just looking at this. Have you been? what did you think? might be a unique experience for her.

We went for afternoon tea. I thought it was great! Real 'english' meals. One of us had fish chips and someone else had bangers and mash. The place is like an old fashioned tea room.

If you go for afternoon tea I believe you should need a reservation.

Yeah, never eat near the strip by the falls.... its a trap.... its ALL a trap.
I wanted IHOP so badly, haven't gone to the US since Trump took office just out of solidarity. Was at the falls for a night on labour day. Went to IHOP on the strip the next morning craving for some chicken fried steak. Ordered coffee then ordered steak... no steak... asked for the bill for the coffee... $10! it was burnt and tasted like crap.

Yelped a breakfast spot that was near the old outlets. 10x cheaper and 100x better.

That being said, Niagara on the Lake is the better area. Went to a restaurant, Ginger, and it was good. But pricey.

I just eat at the Casino buffets. Price is fixed and locked in, including beverage and tax, but with no surprise billing. (tip is still extra, but that's okay.)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Less people (it's older and smaller), much less selection but you save a bit of money. Been there once but decided fallsview is the better value. But sometimes you're just on that side of the falls and don't want to bus or walk back to fallsview so the old buffet is still in contention. You could always try the ayce ribs at Montana which isn't that far away. Montana always has the ayce ribs if you pay a surcharge on top of the normal rib price.

does anyone have any other suggestions that are on the way to niagara from toronto or on the way back to toronto? we can stop to eat before or after some place that further away. just looks like the way there and back is a wasteland for decent places (not counting winery restaurants)

Cook food early morning, put it in hotpot and eat there. Its what we did each time we go there its better, healthier and saves money after all we’re rfders.
For coffee etc there’s Mcdz always.
Last time we made buryani and took that.
But ofcourse we’re only talking lunch n snacks. Grab dinner takeout on the way back or leftovers for quick dinner and then bed

Are you looking to stay overnight or just lunch or dinner as well?

I remember when it used to be a $50 voucher. There was also no forcing a second person to be a part of it. They cut it back to $40 and only validate it if there are two people (at least)
Great scam!
The restaurant menu prices go up and up every year but that $40 voucher remains the same $40.
(If this were the travel board I bet I'd have several upvotes, lol)

The syndicate in the Falls isn't too bad or if you want Italian Carpaccio is pretty good.
