Nikon D3100 wont recognize my SD card

Nikon D3100 wont recognize my SD card

So here is the situation. I have a Nikon D3100 i purchased from Costco a few years back. It came with an 8GB SD card. A few weeks ago i took it out to copy the photos to my pc and when i plugged it back it i get "SD card not inserted" msg on the camera.
The SD card still works when plugged in to anything else and i can still use it. The camera can read other cards i have (mostly 2GB), but this is my biggest card and i really would like to figure out whats going on.

Any idea what i can do to fix this?

I alredy tried resetting the camera, formatting the card on the pc (Cant format on the camera as its not recognized on in), cleaning the card slot, etc.

Check the lock switch on the card.

was the first thing i checked. i also updated the firmware on the camera and still nothing

Are you formatting the card with FAT32? If so, and the camera still cannot see the card, then suck it up and buy a new bigger card. Is it really worth your time to keep banging your head up on something that can be fixed by spending less than $10?

16 gig can be had for $8.99, 32 gig for $11.99 on sale.

Memory is soooooooooooooo cheap now no excuse to not buy several.

is the card formatted so the camera can read it? As the poster above said, if windows formatted it as ntfs the camera wont see it

Nope formatted as fat32, i used thier instruction on how to format it.

This really isnt about me loosing on the card , i just want to understand why it suddenly stopped working in my camera. Just realy weired

Happens with cheaper low-end cards. I've seen it happen a lot in the years I've been selling cameras. At least you backed up everything before it stopped working. Just move on and get a new one.
