Should be no tax on gift cards. Netflix started charging tax now due to Canadian legislation so if tax on Netflix gift card, this would be double tax for Netflix.

Got my $100 at Loblaws GTA. Went to the cashier since im not sure how to self-check out the $15-$500 uber cards.
Be sure to scan your optimum card with the cashier (some of them dont know theres a promotion with the points).
Saw my points on the receipt and app.

This. There should not be any tax on Netflix gift cards, since tax is billed and collected at billing time, and you use the gift card to pay it. If you paid tax on the gift card too then you are taxed twice.
Compare with other types of gift cards that are redeemable directly for some good or service (like movie tickets or spa admissions) as opposed to good for payment towards some good or service. With the movie ticket gift cards you pay the tax when you buy them, and are only taxed once.
