[No Frills] Unico 3L vegetable oil
Inflation at it again but this is the new sale price on oil. Everywhere regular price on this now is 10.99 and up so pretty good deal Imo.

These prices are ridiculous. This stuff used to be at the end of the aisle for $3.49 everyday. I can't deep fry at these new prices.

I was just talking about this with my cousin earlier today. At Food Basics, 3L of Saporito Caonla Oil was on sale for $4 pretty much all of 2020. Then at the beginning of 2021 it was on sale for $5...then just kept climbing. It's nuts.droopytrash wrote: ↑ These prices are ridiculous. Canola oil is far better than vegetables oil for health. Vegetables are good but vegetables oil is not.

This is the best vegetable oil I've used from a grocery store. Seems to be much more pure and even after multiple deep fries it doesn't give off the oxidizing smell and food doesnt get dark. I don't know if anyone noticed similar things to happen but I used to use Unico vegetable oil to occasionally deep fry but this past summer I noticed that whenever the oil gets heated it would give off a plastic-y smell. Since then I stopped using this brand and switched to grapeseed oil

It was $5.99 last week at Fortinos and its $5.99 this week at superstore for the 2.84L (Mazola corn or vegetable oil.)

Poison for your body. Same is Canola oil. Extra virgin Olive oil is the way to go fellas and stop frying everything

Vegetable Oil sounds just a healthy as corn syrup...If veggies produce oil why do people put oil on their salads?

I agree that olive oil is the way to go but not in dessert (cookies, cake...). I used to buy grapeseed oil at Costco but Costco stopped selling it and grocery store oil is expensive! We stop about half way through and mix it all up. Also, we cheat a little bit, we mix in 1/2 tablespoon of oil for the taste.droopytrash wrote: ↑ I got one for xmas. Every time half the fires were over cooked and the rest uncooked. Gave it away. Deep fryer is the way to go.
