No more Blackberry TCL phones

Things changed now that I’m a father, I can’t live my life a quarter mile at a time anymore.

Wow, there definitely is a niche market out there....just a matter of price point and production costs...

Too bad too, was going to switch to the Key2 soon!!

Now that Blackberry is completely bailing out of the hardware market, it sounds like this just might be the golden opportunity to get a great deal on a PlayBook that I've been waiting for!

They'll probably find another partner like ZTE or Huawei or something bigger.

TCL is too unknown to non-techies.

BlackBerry is always downsizing and is constant in layoff as told by family friends who work there. Canadian companies are rarely competitive globally. People always want to go on vacation and go to cottage.

The fact they were made by TCL has zero impact on non-techies. It's not like the phones say TCL on them at all (you might see something in small print on the box, but otherwise it's just "BlackBerry" - an old relic that the non-techies are surprised is still around).

TCL had little push power in the mobile market. Make sense TCL isn't featured on the device.

There are so many chinese companies that want to get into the western enterprise. BB is lucrative for them.

BB x Lenovo
BB x Huewei
BB x ZTE

Lenovo would make the most sense for them to partner, since they already have a mobile division and it is on the "trusted" listed by major companies.

How could they outsource yo huawei and ZTE? Blackberry is famous for its security and those two companies are or as in US blacklist

If they do that, they ruin their reputation

Well they're certainly not going to be doing the android update now... Crappy since besides that the key2 LE is not a bad phone IMO.

Maybe update still possible?

From the tcl statement, there is still support after their hard date of stopping production.

I was a huge BlackBerry cheerleader.

... but now it's a two horse race. BlackBerry runs Android. If you just want the hub, you can install it.

There is no advantage to having a BlackBerry phone in 2020. Regardless of who makes it.
