No serial number on trailer

Hi everyone!!

My son bought an older trailer for his boat.
It looks like the serial numbers are worn out.

How does he go about registering it?
No idea who the original owner was.

I have called MTO but cant get through.
Also googled and can't find answer.

I would imagine you would just register it as a new diy trailer if the number are not legible.

Do they give you a new number? Do we have to bring the trailer in?

I would imagine so, when registering my trailer they inspected it quickly, but i had all the paperwork.

I registered mine as a DIY in 2007ish. No one looked at it at all.

It does have a serial number on it, but when I bought it the owner signed it all over to me. Then I questioned the wisdom of paying $60 to register a $100 trailer so I just ... didnt. Follies of youth. Then the signed ownership was stolen in a Truck break in. Registered it after that.

My other trailer (which was nicer and more expensive) I think I registered with a serial from the ownership from the other guy.
