[North York] Hay Sushi Grand Opening Promotion

Noticed a new Japanese restaurant open up in the North York area and they're currently running a grand opening promotion for 20% off cash and 10% off card, takeout only. (Sep 12-26)
I tried a few items on their menu (sushi, pasta, and their tacos) and overall really enjoyed the food. A little on the pricier side but definitely worth it!

Address: 41 Spring Garden Ave, North York, ON M2N 3G1

Edit: Lol at those of you who are trying to compare this price point to the likes of subpar Americanized sushi.. cucumbers and artificial crab meat is not going to cost the same as ikura, botan ebi, and scallop. If you're a true sushi connoisseur, you'd appreciate that this price point is actually reasonably cheap for high quality sushi.

Thread Summary
**TL;DR**

1. Haters gonna hate, a lot of y'all downvoted because this grand opening isn't offering >50% off or "line up for 2 hours to get ___ for free".
That's alright though because this is some good quality sushi and despite the slightly higher price, you get what you pay for

2. Yes, I love sushi. Yes, I love writing reviews purely as a hobby on >> yelp <<. Yes, I have eaten here and thought the food was fantastic!! And yes, the restaurant asked me for my permission to use my photos. If you think this is a fake review, at least consider that I've written over 500 reviews on Yelp over the last 6 years, 77 of which were at Japanese restaurants. How many of you can say you've eaten at >70 Japanese restaurants?

3. Pages 3 and beyond = interesting discussions surrounding different sushi restaurants across Toronto/GTA and their different quality/price points! Some good recommendations are noted from various users.

4. Reviews from other RFDealers on Hay Sushi:
  • Childkangaroo on page 2
  • Dave510 on page 3
  • cookies1314 on page 4

I definitely love me some Sushi Bong but to be fair, their 12pc sushi set looks like this and Sushi Bong's sushi looks like this.

You get what you pay for. It's a whole different caliber of sashimi grade.

The line at Sushi Bong is pretty crazy these days. My fallback option is Vips down the street.

From the pics, it does look a whole different caliber budget sushi places. Sushi Bong is a great place for cheap sushi, but this looks better for sure. Jury is still out on whether it tastes good tho. We need a review.

Speaking of which, I'm a bit peeved at the fact that their facebook promo menu uses the same picture as the one in the 5 star review Tracy T. gave on yelp. Makes me think they gave themselves a 5 star review. I mean, how stupid does she think we are?

Now that I think about it.. OP.. are you Tracy T?

Yeah, her other posts don't hide that she is a yelp reviewer named Tracy T. The jury is still out however if she's affiliated with the restaurant

What is this restaurant replacing in that location?

I usually go to VIP sushi. I like their big rolls. How's that compared to sushi bong?

For the most part I agree but for some reason almost every take out sushi restaurant I go too, there’s always a long wait for pick up where you have to call at lunch to get a dinner take out. I guess people still need their sushi fix.

Why yes indeed I am! I guess you could've taken it that way. They reached out to me asking for permission to use my photos and it doesn't appear like they have very many of their own yet - woes of a small local business opening during covid. Anyway, a deal is a deal and I'm just sharing the word. I wanted to partake in Jabistro's takeout deals during covid but it was just too far away for those of us won't don't live downtown Toronto.

I personally prefer Ai Sushi > Sushi Bong for my budget sushi but if you're looking for something fancier uptown, I feel the promo price here makes that an easy decision.

maybe the restaurant decided to use her pic? I had a few restaurants used my pics too on their social media and one added the brunch menu on top of my pic

I think it was a yakitori (Japanese skewer Izakaya type) of restaurant.
