Not sure if Im allergic to cats

So this was my first time in 6-7 years I spent over 3 hours with several cats in a Pet Shelter.

The manager said Im doing fine and doesn't see any signs of allergies so I was happy. Other than an itchy throat for a few seconds and 1 sneeze I didn't really experience anything.

4 hours later I took a shower, not sure if it was the shampoo or the hot water, but my right eye got really red and itchy.

No other issues. No sneezing. No runny nose. And the eye is okay right now.

Is there like a delayed reaction to allergies, or you know within an hour after spending time with them? I'm still wearing that hoodie with cat hair on it as I speak.

Thanks

I have similar (based on your description) light allergies to pets. I acclimate quickly though. You may find yourself no longer allergic after your second or third trip but then allergic again if you don't spend time with cats for a few months.

Sounds like you don't have too much to be concerned with if you can tolerate the hoodie. The eye thing is more worrisome but not surprising if you had any dander on your hands and rubbed your eyes (or in your hair and it got into your eyes).

One trip is definitely not enough to make much of a conclusion on and it doesn't sound so serious that you're planning on avoiding them from now on. Be interested in hearing your experience after a few more trips.

I'll check again next Saturday.
