I remember when the Chilliwack was $8xx.

There are a bunch of minor reasons, but the main reason is Bain Capital (corporate raiders).

The stock was up today, so I presume the China-related return policy issue was resolved and maybe prices can chill a little bit.

thumbs up but whom ever took advantage of the discount from 24s did better. Their MSRP was lower + the discount was 25% + Free Express shipping and returns. I bought one on Friday and it arrived on Monday shipped from France.

Seems like a couple of the items I've checked are marked up. For example the Chateau fusion fit parka is $1,150 on sporting life but $1,350 here. With discount and all, it works out to be basically the same price with no returns.

CHILLIWACK BOMBER is three times the price now. As another rdf said, back in the day this jacket cost $375cdn.

There is no way I'll pay that much for CG.

Edit:
The Resolute Parka $1395

You are going to tell me a bomber jacket that probably is only duck filled is worth the same.

Not really a hot deal. 24s was a lot better with free shipping.

Regarding the astronomical price increases, CG saw what Nobis, Mackage, Moose Knuckles, Parajumpers, etc were charging after they rode on CG's coattails, and were like "I'm not going to get outdone by you!"

In all seriousness, "luxury" goods keep getting price increases annually, some even more often. Look at the prices of luxury handbags and luxury watches these days.

got lots to say, but I'll keep it short: I don't recommend this store.

Not a surprise to anyone but prices reflect what people are willing to pay and many in the Far East are willing to pay those astronomical prices. It’s about brand cachet now and the more expensive, the more exclusive it appears to brand slaves (the LV bags playbook). CG probably don’t really care that Canadians find them outrageously expensive. Similar to lobsters and maple sirup, the producers make more money in foreign markets.
