Expect low stock, high prices and bad drivers

Edit: Nailed it

When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

Don't buy at launch, this is like pre ordering games, but with hardware you should always wait for the competitor to come out and reveal their cards first. AMD will respond to Nvidia shortly after Nvidia launch their 3000 series, AMD has kept their new GPUs a total secret to the point most noted its rare Nvidia had more leaks than AMD. Both Sony and Microsoft claim excellent results with their RDNA 2 based GPU, so it seems this time AMD has something actually good and literally waiting to see which 3000 series GPU their top SKU beats. Once you have the reviews from both Nvidia and AMD GPU which should be revealed on their respective launch days, you may see jostling between the two if they're competitive and it is there where you can pick the best price to performance card.

I lost the thread this was linked to, but someone posted that claimed they had some insider information about AMD (not totally accurate about SKU's I'm guessing) but laid out a pricing point (in $USD) that we could expect from both parties.

Need to see some benchmark from both sides.

I'm hoping to get a new card but I'm likely going with Nvidia cuz of my gsync monitors. Currently using a 2080 super now.
CPU: Core i7-5820K @ 4.2GHz GPU: RTX 3090 RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 48GB DDR4-2666 Case: CM StormTrooper SSD: 850 EVO 250GB x2 Raid 0 + NVMe 970 Pro 512GB Mobo: ASRock X99 Extreme4

I really think that’s too many Nvidia cards by December. Two 3080 variants, a 3080 Ti and a 3090? No way! Especially not that quick! 6 months minimum, then they may release the extra card as a “Super” variant and phase out the older one.

I’m probably going to wait a few months to see where things stand on both sides and then get an RTX 3070 or equivalent AMD. Do that when Ryzen 4xxx comes out.

And for those with a triple monitor setup to watch
Um, yes?

I'm playing at 3840x2160 at 98Hz HDR or 3840x2160 at 120Hz regularly on a Asus PG27UQ (whether it gets to that is another thing). 3090 probably won't be able to drive those frame rates yet either, and that's only with RTX off.

And occassionally triple screen at 11520x2160 (near impossible for most parts), 7680x1440 (as seen above), or 5760x1080 (easier than UHD).

im getting one 3080 at launch no matter what ill click the buy now. but i doubt ill click it fast enough Lol
you can expect the 2080ti power in a 3080 for cheaper and with better RTX and DLSS. i am not worried, it will run my games fine, but i have a gsync monitor i am going to be with team green for the first time ever.

Pretty much the same for me. I sold my 2080S the other day for $550 plus a GTX1080 back in return to hold me over till get one. I can hopefully sell that for $250-300 bringing my return for my 2080S to 800-850 which I think is more than if I held it and sold once I got a 3080. I probably wouldn’t of upgraded this gen but I need HDMI 2.1 for my C9.
