Nvidia shield vs mag box

I have a mini Neo Android box but the company is no longer providing updates on it and quite frankly I got tired of finding new repos or what not cause the ones i were kept dying .

Is Nvidia shield essentially the same with as the Neo ? Ie Android box to stream stuff ? Meaning I'll still need to download repos etc. If so ..not interested ...rather have virtually no maintenance .

I recently saw a posting about Mag Box ...I think this more what I was looking for ..this thing looks like it's essentially providing cable TV ...but you need to pay $180 a year for programming ? I'm not programmer so I don't think I could do it myself (unless it's easy ).

What are the Kye differences between mag box and an Android box like nvidia shield ? Andoird can provide more of a OnDemand expereicne and has additional functionality like browsing ..playing games...apps like Netflix while mag box is more of a cable tv. Experience ?

Manufactures haven't introduced the Lazy Box yet, so the Nvidia shield is a pretty slick set-up (not only games, Netflix, etc) will run an assortment of additions while plugging into your 4K HTPC. It's not going to replace paid cable services, commercials and all. Most of these boxes that offer cable TV free or at discounts that are too good to be true, are illegal and service will eventually be cut and the box useless as a brick.

The mag is for paid IPTV services like Express, TVZon , etc. Those IPTV providers use stalker to deliver their IPTV service. If you get service from m3u lists, the mag box will not work, but the shield would work.

The shield can load stalker like the mag, except you would need to buy an aftermarket wireless usb remote control and manually map the keys from the emulator to the remote. Or you can get the gaming controller and just map that, it is actually good enough for me.

Note: if you plan to buy hrsjiptv, the shield will not work, you will need a non android tv version like those Chinese android tv boxes (not Xiaomi tho)

You can always go get a cheaper box from amazon, but it is the mag322 version

For streaming you should look at the group buy section on RFD, there are some resellers selling IPTV credits that work on mag boxes at a discount.

Why won't the hrsjiptv app work on the shield? It just doesn't? I tried the demo on my Android tablet and phone and worked before. Why does it need to be a Chinese android box?
