Just a heads up you need to login with a Facebook account to use the device, Zuck is making sure FB is part of the "experience" now

Does it have feature parity (or more) vs the OG Quest? I ask this because the price suggests otherwise, almost as if this were the Quest Lite.

News is still coming in atm

Upgrade SoC (must faster), 6GB RAM vs 4GB RAM, upgraded screen with almost 50% more pixels. Screen is capable of 90Hz refresh, although units in the hands of reviewers are saying their review units are still at 72Hz.

Any info on the display type? I'm wondering if they switched to IPS to save money, but I can't seem to find any confirmation on the panel type anywhere

I've owned both the touch and now the quest, and the Oculus experience has only gone downhill over time. Looking forward to some better competition entering this space, as I never want to buy another Facebook device again.

This starts at $300 in the States, so why on earth is our cost closer to $500 than $400?

Assuming the 13% tax is built into the price?

Okay; Ars is saying they're using an "LED" screen instead of OLED, so I take it they mean LCD. They should have probably been able to get that terminology right

Just sold my Oculus Quest 1 for $500 a few days ago. I'd be pissed if I bought it and saw this. haha

It's been a great device in our home, heavily used by my teens. I enjoy it from time to time too.

Thanks OP!

It was the same good perk when ordering the Quest 1 directly from Oculus: No tax.

I'm a huge VR Enthusiast; so this is a "take my money" moment for me. If anyone here is on the "edge" or was thinking of buying, my gut is really telling me this is going to be a looooooooong road of CONTINUALLY Out-of-stock moments here for the Quest 2. (I hope anyways, it would mean that Oculus got it right again.)

Say what you will about Facebook and Zerk, but I really think they got the hit the market right with Quest 1.

64GB version would be very tight; I'm almost maxed at 64GB on my original Quest - especially with side-loading (ie. custom Apps).

I opted for the 256GB + Elite headstrap - Go VR!
