Similar to your suggestion on merging the Trudeau threads, I am inclined to leave it as is. A Canadian based site that permits political discussion should not have mega threads for topics such as "Ontario" or "Justin Trudeau". However, this is ultimately up to the admins.

While I agree that there are more threads based on Ontario than other provinces, I don't feel there is enough demand to warrant separating all those discussions to their own forum. It may be possible in the future to create a filter for this and I'll make a note to review that when we begin work on personalization in the forums.

At least we can use tagging for now. Perhaps allow in the site to display only threads containing a certain tag, without running a search query? Could even have most frequently used tags as suggested filters right where sub-forum links would be.
