If you're referring to the $1 deal, don't feel too bad, it sold out a couple hours ago :(

Is anyone going to just leave their Nexus 5 naked and without a case? I'm thinking of just going with a screen protector and leaving it at that.

I would. Haven't put on a screen protector or case on my N4 since I got it a year ago. Other than micro-sctraches on the back which can't be easily seen it's perfect. I've even dropped it a handle of times by accident but luckily no damage.

I'm sure many will do that. Honestly screen protectors aren't really going to do a whole lot either IMO. So much nicer to use a phone without a screen protector.

My current, but soon to be replaced with a Nexus 5, Android phone has only a bumper case around to do a decent job for drop protection. Never got a scratch on the glass but I don't stick it in my pocket with keys, coins, etc.

For the Nexus 5 I'd ideally want to get a Lifeproof case but they don't have any interest in creating one for the Nexus 5. I have a Lifeproof case for my work iPhone and it's great around water. Oh well, I'll get another bumper case or perhaps this: http://www.amazon.ca/DELIGHT%C2%AE-Ulti ... gke+wallet

I've been looking for a belt clip swivel case but all of them seemingly cover either the headphone jack or the media keys. OEM BB pouch worked perfectly for my 9900 :(

OP you may want to add this to the main page, and I will be testing it out :D Instructions can be found there but I will copy and paste courtesy of XDA/Chainfire:

Nexus 5 now rooted :D
Installation and usage

- Download the ZIP file (see post below for link)
- Extract the ZIP file
- Boot your device in bootloader/fastboot mode. Usually this can be done by turning your device off, then holding VolUp+VolDown+Power to turn it on.
- Connect your device to your computer using USB

- Windows:
--- Run root-windows.bat

- Linux
--- chmod +x root-linux.sh
--- Run root-linux.sh

- Mac OS X
--- chmod +x root-mac.sh
--- Run root-mac.sh

- Follow the on-screen instructions - watch both the computer and the device !

Note that if your device had not been unlocked before, this procedure will wipe all your data !

Not included - adbd Insecure
As this CF-Root does not include a custom kernel, adb shell does not have root access by default (you can still get it by typing su inside the shell), nor is adb remount supported, nor will adb push and adb pull work on system files. adbd Insecure can be used to remedy this situation. (No idea what this is about ? Don't worry about it !)
Been using a S2 LTE for two years, but never bothered to look at rooting it. Is it safe to do and still get new google firmware updates?

Safe to do so if you know what you are doing, but most devs release tool kits for beginners. Yes still possible to get new Google firmware updates BUT you root access is removed. Therefore one has to re-root or use an app called Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper which can preserve and restore root.

Is everyone in Canada ordering through .ca, because it seems their prices are more expensive plus no free shipping. The Amazon.com seems way cheaper......
