Will stores even be open tomorrow? Never heard of 100km winds before. I imagine a lot of workers will call in sick or not show up. I expect some stores to not even open.

Not hurricane-force winds.

The top end of the worst gust forecast barely reaches into the lower end of the sustained wind speed required to be considered the weakest type of hurricane.

Also, the worst gusts that the news will no doubt go on and on about are forecast for specific areas and none of these are in the GTA.

But still potentially damaging - the GTA is not built for regular gusts that high and anything exposed and marginally secured will reveal itself :)

The winds are probably because of the instability that will be caused high up in the atmosphere due to such a drastic increase in temperatures.
The Caribbean is already superheated so maybe an early and quite active hurricane season to look forward to as well.

Winds have started picking up in NW Mississauga within the last 30 minutes.

Guy down the street put a section of old HVAC trunk line duct work by the curb (presumably for garbage pickup?). Can’t wait to see what the winds will do to that!
