LOL at using a hammer...just start up the car, run the fans at full blast in conjunction with the defroster/defogger and chisel away at the ice with the side of the ice scraper. As the car warms up, the ice will come off in bigger and bigger pieces.

We're still looking at restoration timelines of about 72 hrs. We appreciate your patience as restoration of this nature is slow. @darkTO

They really are not very helpful at all. How long that is depends on how long ago that started. If what time period they are saying started 24 hours ago, then there is only 48 hours to go. If that is from now in the moment, then we must wait til Christmas is over for the whole problem to be over.

For emergencies one should have radios that use batteries so that even without power they can still listen to radio stations for emergency centres etc announcements.

Took a walk to the Sheppard centre. Every outlet in the mall has small groups of people huddled charging phones.
You say get high, I say hello!

Sheppard and Warden. Hopefully other areas get it back up soon.
We take things like having electricity for granted and while it's not the end of the world to be without it..man it's tough to live without it in winter.

Yay! The weather thread has now become the most posted to thread in RFD off topic!

Tons of frustrating stormy moments, confusing weather data and unexpected shifts in the forecast models, but in the end, a lot of enthusiasm :)

I still am wondering how many people have to wait through this "72 hour wait time" for power. How ever many people that is, they will have to endure 2 frigid nights below minus ten.

It won't drop that far IN the houses, but with the temps outside that cold, it will rock fall for sure.

Haven’t seen anything in here about Markham. Usually it doesn't take much for a power outage to occur in Markham Village but so far (knock wood) we’ve only had a few threats. The first 4 pics are of the damage caused to a single side street – without doubt one of the most majestically tree-lined in the village.
