Okay... I give up! Migrating apps from old iPod Touch to new, using current iTunes...

Bear with me here, folks... I don't spend much time in the Apple ecosystem. To preface my situation, I live in the Android/Windows world, and transferring apps/contacts/etc. has been a breeze moving from one Android phone to another (and tablets as well!) for the past decade.

However, I have a 4th gen iPod Touch that I still use for music and a couple of apps for which it's more convenient to use than my phone (my overnight white noise app, f'rinstance) I recently picked up a refurb 5th gen Touch as the battery and home button on the 4th gen aren't what they used to be... but then, neither am I! Smiling Face With Sunglasses

Here's the rub. The 5th gen Touch required upgrading iTunes before it would be recognized, and the latest iTunes doesn't deal with apps.

As best as I can tell, it needs to be done via the app store on the Touch itself. Correct or not? If so, how does one transfer/migrate settings for apps?

In addition, I can't see where the hell to find something along the lines of 'My Apps' in the Touch's app store. I'm sure I'm logged in, but nuthin'... Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

Any suggestions? Your patience is appreciated! Smiling Face With Open Mouth

So for the apps, they just need to re-installed. Just sign into the App Store and look for Purchased Items. That'll be the list of all the apps

For the app data, just take backup of the iPod via iTunes and restore it on to the new one. That'll transfer over EVERYTHING

Thanks... that's what I've found when I tried Googling solutions to this dilemma. However... I don't see "Purchased Items" anywhere! Smiling Face With Horns

I am not sure what iOS they support, but in the newer ones, head to Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Click on the Apple ID -> View AppleID -> Purchase history

This one's at iOS 13.x, and the purchase history does show up in Settings, but not in the app store itself... there's nothing there to show my account...

What iOS is the old iPod Touch running at? I thought the newer iOS versions now support side-by-side transfer where you put the new device next to the old device and everything gets transferred over to the new device (apps, settings, etc.)

It's on the Search tab of the App Store. Should be in a circle on the top right.

Click on that and then "Purchased"

The old iPod is at its maximum: 6.something... circa 2014, so no side-by-side transfer!

That's what I've been trying. 'Settings' tells me I'm logged into the app store, but that circle at top right in the app store does nothing at all!

Actually, the circle is visible in the other tabs, but not in the search tab, for whatever reason(s)...

Okay... turns out it was as simple as logging out of my account and logging back in... I'm guessing the app store app itself was confused somewhere during the initial set up and/or restore of the backup of the older iPod Touch. :D

Thanks for the suggestions, folks!
