OnePlus 7T vs Pixel 4XL?

I'm trying to decide between these two. Buying both outright. Camera is pretty much the big feature for me, for taking pics of the kids... Results from GCam with the OP7T look pretty impressive though?

Not sure if it's worth the significant extra price for the Pixel 4 XL right now, especially with the OP7T on sale for $635 with student discount.

Actually, after thinking about it - at $635+tax the OP7T is a no brainer. The Pixel 4 XL might have the edge on the camera, but I don't think it's a $600+ edge

Yeah just picked one up this morning. 7T for 635 with the academic discount, and free Bluetooth earbuds.

This is 8gb 128gb version. Not the 6gb version like 7 pro a few months ago.

Probably means the op8 is on its way.

Pixel experience to me is meh, so is the design. OP7T seems a better all rounder.

You can get a proper dedicated mirrorless camera for that $600 if you really wanted.

Even a used compact Rx100 for $300-400 would be better than spending +$600 on pixel.

Also, Pixel phones have very poor resale in Canada for some reason, even worse than Galaxy.

Well, the whole point of having an excellent camera on the phone is that I hate carrying around a regular camera too. But the difference between the Pixel4 and OP7T isn't NEARLY big enough to justify that huge cost difference.

https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/pixe ... oneplus-7t is the only head to head comparison for photograph, but none of them really use GCAM

honestly though I don't think Oneplus will ever improve it enough to compare with Pixel 4. They never did improve any of the previous generation significantly on the camera side. If Camera is a major point you really need to look at this more.

GCAM https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/andr ... s-7-t-pro/ is like an x-factor here, but direct comparison is rare. What I heard is that GCam is limited to using the hardware via to Camera2 API, and won't do much on the 48 MP sensor since it can only access the 12 MP output. You also need root for it.

I have a 7T as my daily and I can't tell the major difference. Though I have never been really strong on photography.

The Pixel 4XL has terrible max brightness (440 nits) so i would go with the OnePlus out of those two. What bothers me about the OnePlus is the large ear piece grill that can get a lot of dust inside of it.

Anyone with the 7T recommend a case? A lot of the one's one Amazon seem to have complaints about the case edges lifting off the screen protector.

I'd like some feedback on this too - right now i'm just using the clear case and factory-installed screen protector that came with it, but that screen protector is scratched up like a mofo already.

No issues with this and the tempered glass screen protector I have on now. The Spigen tough armour has been good too, if you're looking for something a little more protective

Do you know which tempered glass protector you got? Normally there's brands that I recognize when I'm looking for protectors for my phone, but I'm not seeing anything on Amazon for the 7T

I ordered these first. Thought the top corners would interfere with my Spigen tough armour, but it fit perfectly

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B081SVXHFC?ref ... b_ap_share

Ordered these a day or so later just in case the J&D protectors wouldn't do the job. Comparing the 2 the corners are a little less pronounced on the 2nd link, everything else seems to be the same so maybe go with the second link there if you want some wiggle room just in case you don't get the application perfect

Thanks. Went with the J&D since I'm getting the tough armour... I'll just have to make sure I install it perfectly.
