I just need a basic monitor to connect my laptop to at home from time to time. I would mostly be just browsing the internet, watching videos, no gaming. Would this work alright for me? It looks like a good deal.

no where does it tell you the refresh rate but sure go for it, sounds like a good deal for a nice new 1080p monitor.

I'm actually looking at the same one, only downside (but depends where you'll put it) is max brightness isn't that high at 250nits. Most screens are closer to 300/400, but not a big deal if you have good blinds/drapes.

I'm stuck debating paying a little more for a 27" though...

Which 27" are you looking at?

Asus but it's not on sale or coupon code to use. I bought the Samsung 27" for my SO but it was out of desperation. Great monitor for $189 but the stand is super wobbly if you're a furious typer. If you're a clicker and light typer it's completely fine but for me its annoying. I rather have a nice 24" then a subpar 27 for myself, since my desk is smaller.
