Pacific Blue Cross - Adding BF as Spouse

My girlfriend has a pretty good PBC plan from her work.
Would it be possible for her to add me as a spouse?
Will we need to show proof that we are married?

I have already tried posting this in the health forum, but did not garner any responses.

I suppose in some ways this is finance-related as this could save lots of money in medical expenses.

If you meet the requirements to be classified as common-law, that may suffice.

Legally the both of you are single and not spouses unless you are common law

Also note that the Insurance Industry loves to deny claims, can and will ask for evidence of almost anything that could impact the legitimacy of a claim, and really, really comes down hard on fraud - and Pacific Blue Cross likes to trumpet their anti-fraud measures.

If you aren't eligible as a spouse - don't try.

The question is whether you are actually a spouse or deemed a spouse per the terms of the plan.

Based on the way that you phrased the question, I’m guessing that you are not a spouse nor consider yourself to be one.

So your real question is whether you can commit insurance fraud. Sure you can but there are consequences of a criminal nature, not to mention jeopardizing your girlfriend’s coverage as she would be implicated as well.

Make it easy on the both of you. Just marry her.
