PAN AM HOV Lanes.......Who's going to break the Law!

With the upcoming Pan Am games all major highways are getting set to unveil the dreaded HOV Lanes. This basically will be a 2 week driving nightmare. Do they really expect drivers will obey the new lane requirement of not driving the HOV lane unless you have 3 or more?

This will be quite interesting. I see a revolt happening. Will you break the 2 week Olympic law?

Ppl already doing it on hwy 404 during rush hour. Many single person vehicle are occupying the HOV lane. I dont see any cops enforcing it.

They are likely planning a traffic blitz (let all of the commuters continue to drive on the HOV lane and become comfortable) and get them all in one shot.

Agreed. I'm sure once the games are closer, you will see a lot of blitzes there.

That's because it's not in effect yet.

The Pan AM games isn't the Olympics. It's a consolation prize for butthurt GTA'ers.

Blitz has already started. Saw two people this morning get pulled over on the 404 HOV. Also heard on the radio that they were doing a blitz today, focusing on HOV.

I'm going to work from home for most of those two weeks. Want nothing to do with the mess that's going to be our roads.

Those are changed to 3 persons from two. Some folks who do not check closely are in for a surprise.

I think it's more than 2 weeks. June 29 to July 29

The penalty for improper HOV lane use is a fine of $110 and 3 demerit points. The points is definitely not something we want.

They don't enforce it now, I drive the QEW everyday and I see all kinds of people merging in and out in the wrong spots and lots of people with 1 person.

When I am in it with the truck you can't see the kiddo in the back, im quite surprised I have not been stopped yet actually.

I very rarely see someone pulled over in the HOV lanes becasue its not enforced, and there are lots of little "tuck ins" the cops can sit and see.

This will be a big cash grab and a one time enforcement I bet. Whats going to suck is the loss of the fast lane where the HOV lane ends, they started marking the lanes already.

It's not 2 weeks, rather almost 2 months

Exactly, who will enforce it. For every 50 that break it they may catch one?

If challenged in court ignorance may be acceptable seeing as for the other 50 weeks of the year there is no HOV lane.

Even for the two weeks it's technically not an HOV lane unless they add all the requirements that exists in a permanent HOV lane like signs, painted lines etc on the road etc.
