Patio screen door replacement

I've replaced the screen in my back patio screen door a couple of years and it never held up as strong as factory. My kids lean on it and it has now ripped at the rubber seal on one side. Instead of going back to Home depot and buying more screen and rubber, I want to look in to something stronger that might hold up to the abuse, but also be functional. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The strip used to seal comes in different thicknesses. Try a thicker one.

Your problem isn't the screen, it's your kids. Fix the kids not the screen.

You can also buy pet screen, or tougher screen. My local Home Hardware has a lot of different kinds on rolls.

It is a "screen" door. It is not really a door. The rubber is only a spline to hold the screening tight. The screen is not meant to be leaned on....it is to keep bugs out.
So, fix the cause of the root cause of the problem and the slider should remain serviceable for a long time. :)

We replaced the cheap screen door that the builder put in with a proper storm door.
