I never understood the appeal of Payless. Walmart, Aldo, Spring, Winners, etc were always cheaper. What exactly am I paying "less" than? I'm amazed they even lasted this long.

Saw it at the mall so decided to check it out.
Even 40-60% off, it's still $30-$50 a pair.
Not bankrupted enough i guess...
Smh at ppl lining up at cashiers with multiple boxes....

same here, went on saturday afternoon really nothing interesting, 40% off but everything is at $50-$60, so with taxes it is still $35-$40 a pair

The bankruptcy filing Monday follows the start of going-out-of-business sales Sunday at its 2,500 US and Canadian stores.
About 16,000 employees will lose their jobs. Store closings begin in March and should conclude by the end of May.
Payless is the most recent retailer to file for what has become known as "Chapter 22," in which a company emerges from Chapter 11 only to file for bankruptcy a second time and shut down its business.
March 11 is the last day they would accept any unused gift cards...just came back from Bellis Fair, they have up to 50% off...30% off shoes, 40% off boots, socks, and 50% off knee high boots
most shoes in USA are $29.99, then with specific function ones like steel toes, business work shoes are priced 39.99, and the knee high boots are 49.99

Payless - you got less for what you paid. Don't like to see another company go under and people lose their jobs, but I won't miss it.
Target - the only store I truly miss...the crazy ass deals on electronics they would have that the general public never knew about.

i remember when target was around, every time they had so called sales, i couldn't ever find any stock. you think stooples was bad but these are items advertised in their sale flyer.

Walmart has some damn good shoes!
I'd rather pay $49.94 (plus tax) for a pair of Dr. Scholls shoes knowing that it is not only a name brand, but also a very comfortable shoe that will last a while
instead of spending ten dollars less on a so called going out of business discounted shoe brand that I have never heard of, only to have to go back to Walmart to buy a longer lasting shoe after only a very short time.

my daughter was happy happy with getting a couple pairs of Jojo Siwa shoes. 3 pairs out the door just under $50 but i've always been against these places and walmart shoes. Shop around you'll get better deals at nike footlocker etc etc
