Does pre-approval means there is no additional process of identity proof as some applicants were asked to call in or send in identity documents last year?

I'm about to find out! Just applied and was approved for a 5k CL on a World Elite. I've been sitting on the fence on this card for a while now, but in addition to the offer, I just moved in to a new building across the street from an SDM, LOL, so here goes.

Based on your frequency in checking, won’t affect you if you’re not constantly in search for credit. Might get a drop of a couple points for that month for the check.

I received the same email for the 125,000 bonus point.

My question for ppl who already have or had this card :

The card is like the CTMC and they will send you offer like :

spend this amount and we give this in point or,
because you buy this we will give more points
or is it pretty much the offer they are already on the Optimum?

The $125 is good, but if after that is if they don't offer anything else, and the point are only the ones from the Optimum card,...

If it's a pre-approval, I don't believe there's a hard check.

About 3 years ago I received a pre-approved Scotia Scene card with a $9K limit (I did not have any products with them, except the Scene card).

I called in, and confirmed there's no hard check, and accepted the card. It's not really an application per se, more of a confirmation.

If it's anything like Scotia, I imagine the PC pre-approval won't require a hard check, since it's targeted.

Hmm considering going for this card we moved closer to a SDM and have been shopping RCS more as of late. Will probably ditch BMO no fee cashback only really good for groceries now.

Card is Meh. Basically only good at Loblaws, no frills, RCSS. SDM is overpriced, regular price at Walmart often cheaper. 30 point/litre at Esso yields 2% back in points at current prices so nothing special really. No point in carrying around a card just to patron one chain.

I was wondering this myself on the website/app while it was doing the 90 second "pre-approval" check received an Email saying they could not immediately approve then 30 seconds later once website/app was done checking it was approved and received follow-up Email

Maybe they automated the credit checks and if you rate above a certain score they approve you, or pre-approve until a human checks it over later?
