Haven't had there card in a year or 2 would I still get the sign up bonus

I'm a little new to this whole Optimum points thing.
I just signed up for the PC MC and got a confirmation email that it has been approved and the card is on its way. Should I still need to sign up for a PC Optimum account? During the sign up it asked if I would like to link them, but I chose 'no' because I didn't have one. From what I gathered, the PC MC would have its own Optimum points account that is distinct from a regular PC Optimum account.
Now, part of the reason I signed up for the card is because I'm looking to make a purchase from Joefresh.com and I understand that we can currently earn 15,000 points. Unfortunately, since the card hasn't arrived yet, I wouldn't be able to make the purchase using the card but then am I then forced to sign up for the separate Optimum account to pick up this offer and them link them after I get my card? It all seems a little messy, I don't know why they didn't just make you create a PC ID / Optimum account when I was applying for the credit card. So once the card gets here is it going to instruct me to create a PC ID so that I can manage it's points as well?

Just walk into a grocery store or JoeFresh and get an Optimum card, then place your order. You can link another time.

Most people have both cards IMO. I guess technically you could have JUST the MasterCard if you are saying it holds its own points, but it's like, why would you have a credit card earning Optimum points when you don't own an Optimum card lol

Thanks.
Just want less cards, and more so less accounts out there. Thought the MC would essentially function as an Optimum card.

You still need a pc optimum card. The MC does not have it's own points. You actually get pc optimum points when shopping with the MC. Hence the reason for linking the pc optimum card and mastercard.
At checkout you will need to either scan your pc optimum card first when they ask for points card then pay with the mastercard or scan the mastercard then pay with the same mastercard. The reason for scanning the mastercard initially is for it to read your linked pc optimum card.
If you don't do the initial scanning when they ask for the points card, you won't get any points for bonus offers. Instead you will just get the base points for using the mastercard.

When signing up its asking for a referral code. I've asked my friend but he can not find it. Any ideas?

Your friend needs to log online to their pc MasterCard account and click on My profile, then on the drop down, they’ll see refer a friend and click on that and it will give you the code.

Thanks! Finally signed up after waiting years to do so. Says I will receive the card in 3 to 5 business days.

It does. You don't need a separate Optimum card and Your credit card will work as Optimum card. Logon to your PC Financial account and you will see that an Optimum # is already assigned to you which is associated with your Credit card.

Source: I have used spouse's PC WE MC for shopping at NoFrills and Esso and all the points show up in her PC Financial Account. She does not have any Optimum card.

Great! You signed up using the link in the first post and just added the referral code in the application, right? In the other PC Mastercard threads with the 100k bonus, I saw that some people just signed up without using the campaign links by mistake and the CSR wouldn't give them any bonus when calling in and escalating to the supervisor.

Although, with the referral code, I'm not sure you'd get anything. Your friend gets 10k points for every referral that spends $100 up to a max of 100k, but it doesn't specify if we also get anything.
