i saw this and thought it was neat but seems pointless in the age of cellphones with large storage and streaming services like spotify.

I actually have an old 20Gbyte iPod Classic. The mini-disk still works fine, but the battery is long gone. Either way, I would have to open it to replace anything.

It brought a smile to my face picturing what it would be like if your car was this difficult to open up for maintenance, say for changing the air filter. :)

I loved those iPods with the scroll wheel, before they went touchscreen and forced you to use iTunes to load music onto it. But yeah Like Scote said, the battery tends to go before the HDD, which is somewhat impressive considering you had a spinning mechanical HDD being subject to bouncing around (running, gym, walking etc) which should be torture for a mechanical HDD.

Still have an iPod classic stored in a drawer somewhere in my house.
May dust it off after watching the above video.
