PDI Appointment - Builder only allowing named purchaser inside unit, is this typical?

I have a PDI appointment coming up shortly, and wanted to bring a 2nd set of eyes with me to the appointment. The builder is not allowing anyone else other than named purchasers on the PSA. Is this normal? I get it, its COVID times, but it seems to me this is a little too strict. I had a design appointment for another unit 6 months ago and I was allowed to bring 1 other person with me to that....

I didn't even get a PDI when I closed earlier this year with Menkes. They assigned their own employee to do it for me and gave me a list of the things that needed to be fixed.

We were same on pre con detached house 7 yrs ago. So might not just be covid.

Was their problem, took us longer bc of the rule.

We were very polite throughout, but methodical...at end we all chuckled when she said we were more thorough than most.

Bought an Aspen Ridge home back in 2004 and never had an issue bringing a few others for PDI. I am sure the bigger builders don't have an issue. Given the situation now, times have changed. Obviously, the more eyes the better.

Just did one a few weeks back and yes, this one appears to be protocol with covid. I would say be grateful that you didn’t have a PDI via video chat, as some other people that I know had to do that a few months prior.

We were stressed the same thing, anything you need corrected, throw it on the 30 day form.

Bought 2 pre con (2013 and 2020) and both times they only allowed the purchasers to be on site. Two different builders.

Didn't see much tbh. But it's a rental so I wouldn't know since I rented it out immediately upon possession.

Had the same issue with my condo closing in Jan 2020, even my wife wasn't allowed in. The builder rep was fairly helpful at finding/documenting imperfections and saw way more issues than me, but that's a huge YMMV obviously.

Weird alot of people hire others to do their PDI for them, I am guessing at least the agents will be allowed?

I just showed up with two other people beside me and had no problem with my builder.
