Peel Region Red Light cameras

So today I ran a red light at the intersection of Erin Mills and Erin Center blvd going North and I think I was nabbed by a red light camera , my fault, was not paying attention due to me yelling at my daughter who did something stupid.

Anyways I driving a car with Quebec plates, how much are the fines for red light camera's? How much do rental companies (National specifically) charge for red light camera infractions?

define running a red.

Was it a red when you crossed the line closest to you.
or was it red AFTER you crossed the intersection.

As of January 1, 2010 the set fine for running a red light detected by a camera system was increased to $260, plus a $60 victim surcharge and a $5 court cost. The total payable is now $325.

Rental Company may throw another surcharge on top of that as the fine will be sent to them, similar to a processing fee charged if you use 407.

I realized I may have lucked out on this one, I went into google maps and if the location of the red light camera has not changed, there is no way it could of captured my plate number.

Heading Northbound on Erin Mills, the camera is located at the North West corner, vehicles registered in Quebec have a rear plate only and no front one. So the camera would only capture the front of the car without the plate or identification. Had I gotten a Ontario plate, I would of been nabbed for sure. *phew... lesson learned.... have be more careful next time.

I don't think they go after out-of-province plates for red light cameras yet.

They talked about changing that in 2013 but it looks like the bill hasn't passed yet!

maybe you got lucky and the plate was covered with road grime.
We had a car stolen and the thief kept it incredibly clean for the whole 3 weeks before he was caught. We got a few red light tickets and some pump and run gas station issues.
