I vote to have these stupid "Gas at a very specific location" threads removed from Hot Deals.

For now, take my downvote.

Thanks OP! Not all deals will be available to everyone in Canada, but this is a sweet deal for locals in that part of Vaughan. No one would know if members like you didn't share. Cheers!

Personally, I don't agree with these deal postings.

(a) it's not for a whole chain of stores, but just one (usually out of the way) location for most, who wants to spend $5 in gas to save $5 in gas
(b) it's a very short deal, lasting only an hour or two
(c) it's a very small, independently run store who can change their price in a second for any reason
(d) GasBuddy is a more effective solution to minute-by-minute gas price fluctuations

I never understood why these get downvoted

OP has mentioned the location in the title. If the deal doesn't interest you, don't click and move on lol.

A hot deal is a hot deal.

A. If it benefits 25 people then it's good enough
B. Enough time for 25 people to get their gas and save .30cents*#liters
C. Same as b
D. Nobody goes on GasBuddy unless they are looking for gas right now. If you had 1/3 tank of gas would you even open GasBuddy? Also it does not give you minute by minute price fluctuations, someone needs to manually confirm or input prices for that gas station. Looking at GasBuddy for the gas stations around my area, the last updated were anywhere from 24 minutes to 4 hours ago.

Rfd is for people that are looking for deals. If someone lived around there and had 1/3 tank of gas left they would seriously contemplate whether to get gas or not. Assuming they need premium gas.

Sure, but I also sympathize with people that downvote deals that are so extremely unreachable and short lived. Otherwise, the whole system will get watered down so massively.

You're suggesting that the following deal threads are encouraged to be posted on RFD:

- pizza guy at 252nd Street in Surrey is doing a 50% off sale on left-over pizzas today for the next 30 minutes
- the expiry date of 3 cartons of milk is expiring tomorrow so the Loblaws at 24th St in Grande Praire, AB is doing a 75% off on 3 cartons
- a Best Buy in Boucherville had a display monitor that fell on the floor so they're doing a 80% off that one item
- 10,000 individual gas station threads at the time they drop their prices (each evening)

A deal is a deal, right?

Maybe you misread what I wrote even though you quoted it. I said hot deal not a deal alone.

Your examples are just plain dumb and hardly considered a deal. Maybe the pizza is. Is the pizza leftover overnight or someone didn't pick it up? Is there only 1pizza or 50 pizzas leftover? You left out a lot of details in that one.

Yes you're right, 10000 gas stations drop their price in the evening. Everyone that's local to those gas stations knows that it drops at night, it's not a deal it's the norm. But 34 cent drop is something to tell people about.

By this reasoning, price errors should also not be in Hot Deals for reasons (b) and (c). They don't last long - meaning most often don't get them -they are often location dependent and very limited stock, and the price can change in a second for any reason.

Like most things on the Internet, if this intersection doesn't apply to you, just don't click it. Or even better, hide it :)

IF you have a regular car like most people do, there is no deal here and you shouldn't be putting 94 in your gas tank. This is only a deal if your car requires 94 octane

Completely untrue.....hence why when they run out of regular fuel they drop the price of premium.

This station isn't usually competitively priced. There's an Ultramar and 7/11 about a km east of there that are routinely 3-5c cheaper...

Good point. I'm not sure now why I put those points about a short-time and a small independent store. However, I still hope that RFD doesn't get flooded with these short-lived local gas station deals. It seems that 1/3 of the other voters on this 'deal' feel the same way.

As expected, it quickly expired, with the small little gas station franchisee getting their 30 minutes of marketing attention on RFD. Hundreds more will have their versions of a 'gas deal' tomorrow. GasBuddy is your friend.
