While this is very likely the best de-alc beer in market.... It's uhh... More expensive than most craft beer with alcohol. Usually when people quit drinking alcohol they also look forward to cost savings?

I'd love to try it, but definitely not at $30 a dozen.

At these prices might as well go for real beer.

Is it actually good? I had some Partake a few years ago and it was terrible.

Are we paying any hidden taxes here? In BC, I think we pay GST and liquor tax which are visible on receipts, but I've always suspected we pay hidden taxes like fuel. Sure some pumps show how much tax we pay when we buy fuel, but those don't show up on each receipt.

So I've always thought non alcoholic bevs should be much cheaper than real McCoy, and these non alcoholic beers aren't cheap, unless they invest in expensive ingredients or takes much longer to produce.

I’d rather drink soda if my beer doesn’t have alcohol

Milton, ON.
People eat fishless canned tuna, meatless burgers and so on. This is the way the world is going.
If I feel like having a beer I go for Becks 0 and it actually tastes like the real thing. But no way am I paying this much. Also, that Partake "beer" is horrible crap.
Also, many look for these non-alcoholic beer to save from drinking calories. And these have 70/can which is close to a Corona light etc.

So its very likely the best, but you havent tried it??!

For Ontario folks and local options:

https://craftbrandco.com/bodega/ some good non-alcohol beers here, NOT all are non-alcohol.

Omnipollo makes one called Personal Best which I often drink in the summer around the pool while others are pounding beers. Partake is simply not great. There are far better options.

No idea if this is "amazing zero alcohol beer" some not great reviews on the website.

Anyone with half a brain would understand that these types of beers are targetted to people who either doesn't drink or are trying to reduce/stop drinking.

If you live in Ontario, you likely haven't tried Phillips beer; they're one of the best craft breweries in BC. For the island specifically, they'd be right up there with Driftwood brewing - so it is likely the best de-alc beer in market based on the quality of their other beers.

Excluding these ones, the prior likely best (I haven't tried them all, including the ones above) is probably the Red Racer Street Legal series from Central City brewing.

I've been known to drink a Heineken 0.0 from time to time because it actually tastes like the actual beer it is trying to mimic. As others have noted, many other "craft" de-alc beers are not as great as they are marketed to be. I'd like to try the Phillips above (for free though haha) but on reputation and quality of their beer with alcohol I could safely assume it is likely a top notch option for de-alc beers. I COULD BE WRONG. But I'd be surprised.

I live around the corner from this brewery. All of their beers are amazing, except sadly I did not enjoy these. They felt flat and lacking. I preferred Heineken 0. Also this price seems ridiculously high.

If you have a London Drugs nearby, you can get these a bit cheaper. Currently $7.99/4pk for all flavours: https://www.londondrugs.com/search/?q=iota&lang=default

I've been trying a lot of non-alcoholic beer lately, but I haven't actually gotten around to trying anything from Iota. How does it compare to, say, Athletic Brewing? I like their hazy IPA and their stout, but most of the other NA craft beer I've tried has been pretty disappointing.

You won't be paying any alcohol taxes on this, but there are other factors that drive the cost up. NA beer is basically beer with extra steps because they have to make regular beer first and then remove the alcohol, so there are increased production costs. And it's currently a pretty niche product without as big of a market as regular beer, so there's less benefit from economies of scale and competition. It's frustrating - I feel like it should be a lot cheaper too! Maybe one day it will be.
