A lot of clothing lines have frequent deals on interesting, fashionable clothing for a fraction of the price. Why is pink tartan worth the roughly 600-1000% premium?

After reviewing an item the following comes to mind.

It is made in Canada
The button was enamel
The Cotton is a higher quality finish and therefore requires dry cleaning

As with everything, people charge based on what they can sell for not necessarily what it costs to make.

Sateen isn't higher quality necessarily, need to know threadcount. Hell, for $300+ I'd want to know the name of the plant that grew it.

I guess you're right though, and I'm just dancing around your point; this clothing isn't worth anywhere near this much.

Not to belabour the point but price isn’t a function of cost of production.

Clothing typically has a 2.2 markup. For example Manufacturing Costs $10, sold to the bay for $22, sold to public for $48.40

Clothing is made in Canada probably by union workers.

I didn’t mention which product I examined so not sure where you got sateen from.

Thread count isn’t as relevant, this isn’t sheets. Is it sea island cotton, Pima cotton, Egyptian, etc.
