Get 2 pts or 3 Pts per $1 spent on Pioneer gas gift cards

Hey guys

Anyone here use Pioneer gas to purchase gas? Are you familiar with the Journie rewards program. I believe this is a good deal?

Journie sent an email about the gift card gas card purchases and getting points towards those purchases. Its 2 points per $1 spent but 3 points per $1 spend if you use your CIBC credit card.

This would mean you get points back on purchasing gift cards with cc at a gas station and you also get 7 cents off if you purchase 100 gas card (which is almost average for me anyways). I believe it's essentially getting 7 cents off if you purchase a 100 gift card.

I think I'm doing the math right but if your a Journie rewards member this is a pretty good deal.

Journie Rewards are a bit confusing.

Non-CIBC
2 Journie Points per $1 with Fuel Gift Card

$100 GC x 2
= 200 Journie Points

+ Journie Points when you fill up = 1 JP per litre

CIBC
3 Journie Points per $1 with Fuel Gift Card

$100 GC x 3
= 300 Journie Points

+ Journie Points when you fill up = 1 JP per litre

However, if you're paying with the purchased GC, as a CIBC customer = 0 cents per liter vs 3 cents per litre *

* Edit: +7 cents per litre if earned AND redeeming a 300 Journie Point Reward = 10 cents per litre if using CIBC linked CC

Can you clarify your 7 cents off?

Probably because you get $0.07/Liter off on next fill up when you hit 300 points?

When you fill up 300 litres on your journey account you get 7 cents off on ur next fill up. But you can also double that up with your CIBC card to get 10 cents.

Thanks for the math.

I guess you can say as a non CIBC member this would be a good deal ..other than that it's the same as purchasing fuel with CIBC card? Like there is no benefit...right?

Ok, I get it now @Seoulkid. You're saying buy a $100 GC as a CIBC customer to get the 300 Journie Reward.

#1 Buy $100 GC with CIBC CC to get 300 points Journie Reward

#2 Fill up when tank near empty to use 300 Pt Reward for 7 cents off per litre + use your CIBC linked CC to get additional 3 cents off = 10 cents off litre

#3 Use previously purchased GC later when working on a new Journie Reward

Ps how much is a Journie Reward point worth?

This points per litre vs points per $ just makes it even more confusing! Lol

Im not sure about what the worth of a point is...but I guess by doing this you get a 7 cent reward faster? Cause the 3 cent reward off gas using your cibc cc wouldn't apply when using a gift card on regular gas. I'm wondering what would be better.
