Placing this stall mats for home gym

sorry if sounds too dumb ;)
I believe I should put these mats in floor in such a way the flat part is on top and that buttoned part goes to bottom/ground so that there is some air circulation happens on ground and also easy to move around with our feet on flat. Right?

Yes, but the spiky part should be on top to avoid getting slide when doing the workout

Yes, of course, buttons on the bottom: Buttons on bottom provides air pockets for
  • air flow, and also
  • if water is spilled, water flow,
  • air pockets provide a small cushioning effect when weight is applied.
  • you want a flat surface on the top
