Haha. Me first. Who cares about the other.

Pretty sure the other guy will take it up with his own insurance

I will park at least 1/2 km away from the store’s entrance. Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Tightly-closed Eyes

I hope you left a note and are going to pay for that guys damages too.

Go to a body shop and get a quote first, no point in going through insurance if its not that expensive to repair and also factor in your deductible.
aomous wrote: So uh yeah it was really windy yesterday where I'm at and when my dad opened the passenger door to get out, the wind literally gushed in and made the door slam really hard into the car that was parked next to my car. I have an SUV so the door itself is already really heavy and it's really hard to hold it still when a sudden wind gust comes by. The edge of my door just got bent a bit inwards so it's not that bad.

Just curious, if I was to take this up with insurance, they would deem it my fault automatically right?

But the wind did it, how can I get mother nature to pay?

No, for something like this I'm sure it would be 50/50... part your fault, and part Mother Nature. Did you exchange insurance info with her?

Someone will park right next to you no matter how far you are or how empty the parking lot is. This is the way.

Face With Tears Of Joy when did I ever say I never left a note.....Also aside from that, there's a reason insurance exists...I've already had someone hit my car in the parking lot and never left any note, what did I do? I just went online and filed a claim, paid nothing, dropped off car at body shop and got a nice rental, got my car back, insurance never raised.

Its the responsibility of the car owner or passenger to control their doors when coming out of a car. I have heard stories similar to this where the person who hit the other persons car with their door ignored them and went into the store. The person who got their car damaged paid them back the other person came out to their door being kicked in, instead of dealing with it the proper way now they have a big repair bill.

I will park mine beside yours. I know how these guys with the nice Porsche and Lambo all park way way back at the mall. Guess what we all use their car to measure so I can park properly. Without cars, I can’t read the lines. I will take my classic 1997 Honda Civic and park beside you.

Guilty as charged.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

I did the exact same thing a few months ago. I just left a note with my phone number. The other car's owner called me and agreed to not tell insurance or report it.
A few days later, the repair shop called me and asked for me credit card info to pay for the repair. It was just $300.
