Popular Dell AW3420DW price skyrockets... covid 19 effect?

So, has anyone noticed the popular Alienware 3420DW Ultrawide gaming monitor's regular price skyrocketed to $2,179.99? (sale price is now $1549.99! Astonished Face) The regular price used to be $1699.99 when i bought it in early Feb (Dell's sale price was about $1150-$1200, even less after Dell coupons and Rakuten were used). Is this because of a spike in demand due to people staying home for COVID-19? Check it out here.

That's quite the jump in price! Anyone notice a similar rise in computer parts? Now that people are staying at home and building setups for "stay at home" living, i'm guessing we'll see similar price jumps for other computer parts in the coming weeks due to demand. Especially a rise in gaming given everyone is staying at home...lets see if those graphics cards prices hold steady.

Probably us$ exchange rate as c$ tanked in recent weeks. That’s my guess.

If you don’t need to buy now, just wait for a few months

... A few months it could be much worse. The social unrest and death toll in the USA and other parts of world (like India's full lockdown -- where by the way most drugs are manufactured) are just getting started.

My opinion is, if you have the money and foresee needing it in the next year or two, get it now. Hyperinflation is about to kick the door down.

But the Canadian dollar dropped from 0.76 cents to 0.70 cents, which is an 8% drop. The monitors old $1700 price vs the new $2180 is a 22% price difference. :p So the exchange rate alone doesn't explain it.
